He looked down at her, hand reaching up to thread through her hair before just holding on the best he could. Adam hadn't handled this right and the list of things he could have done differently to salvage this was endless. Maybe he could just live with the fact she'd never love him? No. No, he'd go insane.
"I can see your scars, remember?" He leaned forward, a tiny, sad smile on his lips. "You're never going to let him go." Adam sometimes had nightmares where they all lived in the suburbs together. She and him had a family while Adam had a nice car and a lonely list of television shows to watch at night. She was so happy, but Adam couldn't be more miserable. "It's okay. Won't tell anyone."
