"Before things went wrong." Adam smiled bitter-sweetly at her, moving to intertwine his fingers with hers as they reached a quieter spot. "He tells me a story about the Avengers, I tell him a story about Seattle. Going to run out of good stories eventually, but it's working. For now." Adam turned to look at her, thinking that he was insane for even considering ending things with someone that was just so beautiful. It was the only way to get Pym on the right track, though. Adam couldn't be wallowing in jealousy and fear. They both had to make sacrifices.
"Want to make things better. For him. For me, too." Adam stayed close, knowing this was likely the last time she'd let him. "I wanted you in it with me. Thought it would help." He paused, watching her expression. "But, I can't trust you." It sounded like it hurt to say that. Like someone physically pulled a knife out of his stomach.
