"You know that for a fact, do you?" Loki asked, with a small glint of amusement that said he knew he didn't. That was a bluff, a hope. Loki might be with Louis so long as he lived, might keep his body forever, now. There was no way to know.
Loki's smile curved up unpleasantly as Evan talked. He knew the man to be measured, difficult to phase, but knew too his lack of worry had to be a show. Loki's gaze skittered over him. "How boring," he murmured, leaning on the scepter. "You're lucky that his standards are apparently nonexistent, and that I am much too busy to take you on your knees just now. Because I must tell you, whether or not someone goes willingly, there is still a certain pleasure," he said, and reached out and ghosted fingers over Evan's jaw, "In coercion. You've misinterpreted my aim. That you would be inside, not enjoying the experience? That would be the goal, not the side effect." The steel in his eyes was very real, but the dance of amusement in them, the pleasure he got at imagining Evan with an adoring look and a pliant body, that was not entirely sane. It was rooted in a darker, deeper need that really had nothing to do with Evan, except that he had rejected him and plotted against him, and Loki had never been a very good loser in such matters.
"I will come back for you," Loki assured him, eyes half-hooded, standing as regal as a lost king ought to. He closed what little distance remained between them. "I have some tedious heroism to deal with, but rest assured, you will not be forgotten."
He leaned in, and spoke into Evan's ear. He no longer sounded amused. His voice was whisper soft, but each word snapped. "In the event that he does return, and you make the mistake of trying to convince him to keep me caged again, there will be consequences for you. I don't take well to cages. They don't much suit me. In fact, I'm in the habit of breaking them."
There was a playful, quick, mischievous bite to Evan's ear, hard enough to draw blood, and then Loki disappeared with a heavy sound of collapsing air, and the smell of snow.
