By the time Iris entered the room, Selina had befriended the dog (who must have associated her with Wren in some inexplicable way), and she'd managed to sit down on the edge of the bed and nudge the sleeping boy awake with one fabric covered hand. Unfortunately, that had resulted in sniffling and wide eyes, and Selina thought maybe this wasn't going to be as easy as she'd intended it to be. "Want to come with me to see Wren, Pup?" she asked the little boy, because that was her trump card, her ace in the hole, and she had put a finger to her mouth to indicate he needed to be quiet if he wanted to come. Now, Selina was a bad kitty, but even she thought the little boy agreed too quickly. Children in Gotham learned not to go with anyone, not ever, no matter what they promised, and she thought someone should do something about how trusting the child was. But no, the kitty had her plans, and she wasn't going to let a little pesky conscience get in the way. She didn't feel guilty for a promise she couldn't keep, not at all.
She had the little boy in her arms when she heard footsteps in the hall, but they weren't heavy enough for the Bat. She was pretty sure they weren't even heavy enough for Luke Henry, though she'd only seen him on youtube clips. She shushed the little boy in her arms, who was sucking on his thumb and asking for his pet bird or something, and the kitty cat backed toward the escape. She had been hoping this would be easy; apparently she wasn't going to be that lucky. No matter, the Cat wasn't afraid.
"Are you ready for an adventure?" she asked the little boy, who asked if Batman would be there, and she just grinned, all lush lips and a Cheshire smile. "The kitty cat hopes so."
