Her feet came to a stop naturally, timed with his, and when she pulled her hands back, they hadn't warmed at all, not even the one that had been held in his. She met his gaze, the one that she could tell was looking for something, and simply held it. She didn't know what he was searching for, or if he would find it, but something made her stand steady under the scrutiny.
"I don't know that I'd call it annoying," she finally said, a true hint of smile forcing its way back in. But she didn't say what she would call it. She would let him figure that out on his own. And then she laughed. Quiet again, not the artificial thing that came from so many of the women in the room, while she shook her head. "All of you need a new hobby if you're that bored. My sister included. You'd think your own love lives would be enough to keep you busy." But she nodded, eyes warm even though her hands weren't. "But thank you for the dance. It was... nice."
