Re: [Edge of the dance floor]
"We do not dance like this on Krypton," she said with a smile that was more eager than nervous. She wouldn't step on his toe or kill him. Everyone was smiling, and no one seemed to notice some of the less savory people dancing in amongst the rich and beautiful. They didn't notice - or, maybe, they didn't care. It translated as being okay to her, and why should she raise an alarm when they all thought it was fine? Her smile was sunshine bright and honest, and her eyes crinkled at the corners as she smiled.
"I think you should lead," she said, but it was hard for her not to lead. She was so much stronger than he was, and she twirled them in a circle that made her laugh, head tossed back and the ends of her long blonde hair brushing against the arm that circled her waist.
"I do not know why your family does not always live like this," she mused. Wasn't this better than the angry way they normally were? It reminded her of home and, maybe, had she been clearer-minded, she would have understood that home was just a layer of pretty atop lies. But she didn't realize it, and she just straightened and kissed his cheek happily, the carefree girl with no troubles in the world.
