Re: first class - baths
"I'm plenty hard to understand, fella," she said, and it was all defensive. If she was easy to understand, and people still tried to change her, then what did that mean? She didn't want to be thinkin' about that, and she stomped emphatically to prove her point. There, that should do it. "I got people that love me. That's gotta count for somethin,'" She brightened when he said he liked the other person different, and she went even brighter when he said they were family. "The people that love me are family." She liked havin' somethin' in common with him. She didn't have much in common with many people, and no one grinned at her like that. His assurance that he really did think she was brave just made her more confused about Mister J, because she was sure she was only supposed to smile like her paint was crackin' for her puddin.' But here she was, smiling wider than the gap between B-Man's ears.
She thought he had it wrong about not bein' good for anybody, but she didn't wanna go convincin' him to run off and find himself another gal. They'd decided not to go find Sally, so tellin' him he should be with someone might give him ideas, and she didn't wanna give him ideas. She kept her mouth shut tight, lips smacked together and a grin that said she was up to somethin' troublin.' She swished her hips from side to side, and she didn't say nothin.' Nope, not a thing.
She thought his grin was just the cutest, and she kissed his other cheek when he said he liked her too. "That's the closest I ever came to kissin' someone," she said rockin' back on her boots and blushin' bright through her face paint. That was all wrong, because she was sure she and Mister J had done lots more than kiss, but it was right too, and she couldn't take it back since it'd been said. She hopped down from the hammer's head, and she swished and swayed and looked up at him with adoration. Maybe Mister J wasn't so great after all. She was changin' things, wasn't she? If she was runnin' this game, who said she even needed a Mister J?
Decided, she held the hammer out to him. "I decided you're gonna be my sidekick. Don't worry, if Mister J comes he can't kill ya, because ya said ya can't die."
