Re: The Deck, at the Bridge
She didn't care that he saw her gawking, her momentary surprise faded way into a grin. Winning battles. "That's what I try to do. Gets a little muddled but I'll keep it mind. Big ape man told me so." She was about to clap him on the shoulder when he reached for his knife. Her guard went up immediately, the snake rearing back on her collar, fangs bared.
And then he handed it to her. The snake slithered away. Wordlessly, the shock still halting her speech, she gripped the handle and took it from him, letting an incredulous chuckle fly. No time for a witty report though, now that he was annoyed. She took a quick look around at the cobwebs and instruments and shook her head.
"Just got turned around. We still got a ways to go, big guy." Slipping away from him she pressed her hand on his back and then stopped. The knife still in her hand and her at his bare back? Well it wasn't the best way to treat friends. Tapping the hilt on his shoulder, she handed him back the knife. "You're in charge of that." Then she pressed her palms to his shoulder blades and pushed him, steering him back and intent on the elevator.
