For a brief moment, amusement won its war with his weary features, a faint glint in his eyes and the barest smile quirked his mouth. "You know the drill." The words rolled off his tongue, a deep timbre that would have creaked from happy disuse. He had laughed so little these days.
He found a place beside her, though keeping a small distance between them. Leaning against the side he looked at her, and then at the dark waters below them. "Water's cold. That's probably a better deterrent from jumping instead of me having to catch you." Not that having a safety net, even if it came from strangers, was ever a deterrent for anyone from doing something.
