Who: Yukiko Kuroda
Where: London, England, as Harry Potter, in Harry's "Muggle" London flat
When: Today, February 23, morning, 1999 (in Harry's world!)
Summary: Yukiko discovers she can actually use Harry Potter's wand....accidentally
Warnings: none!
Suddenly being swapped into her new role was alarming at first. Yukiko wasn't quite sure that she liked it. It was strange, being here, going back in time and everything. Besides, it was a little easier being a foreigner in Las Vegas. She was more than worried about being a foreigner in what appeared to be downtown London, of a few years ago. She didn't feel any different, but she'd been looked at oddly a few times when she went outside. And strange things happened around her, without her control. She'd been walking like normal down a London street when she caught sight of a robbery happening right in front of her. Rather than using her own skills to stop them, something snapped inside of her and a loud banging sound echoed, startling the robber and causing them to flee the scene. Shocked and surprised, Yukiko had dutifully kept her head down and kept going.
Had she caused that? However she'd done it, it had been enough to startle the would be robber into fleeing. There'd been another incident where she'd been purchasing ice cream at a local store and they'd run out of her flavor. Her temper had sparked enough that some of the ice cream behind the glass went flying, covering the poor clerk in chocolatey goodness. She'd fumbled over an apology and hurriedly left, uncertain as to what was causing this. It had to be her! Twice in one day was no coincidence, that much she knew. Whatever she was doing...WAIT. As she hurried back to Harry's flat, she remembered the opening book of his series. Accidental magic, that had to be what this was! Could that mean...could she really use his magic? Curiosity got the better of her.
Fishing around Harry's apartment, she tracked down his wand, surprised that he hadn't had it on him. Maybe he hadn't been expecting to be locked in Las Vegas, however, as she certainly hadn't been expecting to wind up here of all places. Hesitantly, she tried to remember the simplest of spells that she could cast from the books that she'd read as a child. Lumos. That was a fairly harmless spell, a fairly simple one that wouldn't hurt anyone even if she got it wrong. Picking up Harry's wand, holding it awkwardly yet protectively between her fingers, she tried to say the word. Fear built up around her. Would it work? What did that mean? For all intensive purposes, she was Harry Potter. And poor Harry....was her, somehow. Or so she assumed. So she had to assume. Pursing her lips together carefully, Yukiko murmured the word softly, almost fearful that someone might hear it. "Lumos!"
The tip of the wand burst into light, far brighter than a flashlight ever could be, and she nearly fell backward in shocked surprise. It worked! She could use magic! Her eyes widened in pure surprise as she studied the light in front of her. She ran a fascinated hand through the beam, wondering if it really was there, or just some wishful thinking on her part. So, she really was the Boy Who Lived, then. She was Harry Potter. She knew she had to be careful, and luckily for Harry she knew his story, and knew his world, not just from having him inside her head, but also from having read his books. This...could have potentially dangerous consequences. Would...who was with Draco? The duke. Yukiko frowned briefly, passing a message on to Harry to tell Draco that Andrew should try to find her. She didn't know how the duke was taking to his own new role. It could be, potentially, dangerous.
