Bright blue eyes peered out the front windshield of the truck as they merged into the flow of traffic. "This is almost like pony races with the Brandybucks. There was always so many of us running around Brandyhall when I was growing up. We would jump on as many ponies as we could round up and run up and down the Brandywine! All hustling and bustling along the East Road! Some of us bumped into each other just to get a chance to win the race! You would not believe the fuss that Uncle Rory would put up when we brought the ponies back with their coats gleaming from sweat." Frodo dropped the silver pieces back into the cupholder and shifted about the truck seat to pull the papers and cards out of his pockets. Chetan had told him not to trade away all his clothes, he did not say that Frodo couldn't purchase anything new.
"And a very good rabbit stew it was. It definitely was a change of taste after eating waybreads for so long." His hand squeezed Sam's encouragingly. "Thank you for the bread and jam for valentines, it was very good. And sticky too, the Old Gaffer always made the best strawberry and rhubard jam. You take after him in that respect."
"I would have thought that the silver was worth more, but you know best. You need to tell us more about the 'New' places, Mexico and York that you lived before? Are they very far from here? Do they have more markets than pubs there? I have never seen this many, even in The Shire where we enjoy the taste of ale. Did you lose your special ability when you arrived here Mister Jamie? Some of the people that write in my diary seemed to do that, and others gained them." It was an excited nervousness that kept his pipe clenched in his hand before he remembered that Jamie had wanted him to share the pipeweed and handed it to him. "we three will have to share my pipe, like hobbits in a pinch, until we get to Mister chetan's wheeled house. He has at least one other one there, wrapped with leather and feathers. But we could buy another one when we get to the market. I am sure Mister Chetan will not mind if all he has to give up is papers with numbers on them."
