Who: Thor, Captain America, Sif
What: Dealing with the bug problem
Where: New York- Crown Heights, Brooklyn
When: Saturday evening
Warnings: Bugs terminated with extreme prejudice.
The sun was waning as they came through Prospect Park on the edge of Crown Heights. On any other Sunday afternoon, it would have been full of people. Young, old, families, couples, people with pets and people without, yet it was empty save for the hum of mechanical bugs. Their first destination was to find the cell phone jammers that Tony had mentioned -- he would remain with them until then.
They were not hard to find once they were in the subway. Thor did not take one, but nodded to Sif. She and the Captain would go ahead of him, find where the signal was coming from while he took care of the insects. Returning to the surface, he thought nothing of how before it would have been the Warriors Three with he and Sif... and Loki. Loki would have been with him. Such thoughts could wait for later.
Heading towards a grassy knoll not far from where they'd arrived in the park, he swatted a bug off his skin and grinned. There had been a reason why he'd wanted Sif and Steve to go ahead without him -- he didn't want to risk having them hit by lightning as well. Alone, and with no trees immediately around him, he began to swing Mjolnir around. It started as only a dirt devil, a small twister that grew with him at the center of it and he did not fight it when the wind called him up into the funnel. It grew the longer he let his hammer swing, the wind pulling up the insects and debris, but he'd picked this spot specifically so no trees, nor human property would join his tornado.
A single cloud formed, connecting the tornado to the sky and darkening the interior. At the first flash of lightning, Thor slammed into the ground, forcing the bolt to follow his hammer and explode upon impact, arcing out to the little mechanical bodies that plagued New York. Lightning lit up his tornado even as it dissipated, and the debris returned to the ground, along with the sizzling bodies of the insects.
Smiling to himself, pleased, Thor walked deeper into the park, listening for the humming to get louder before he repeated the process. He could have summoned a thunderstorm, had even considered it, but it was far more satisfying to have Mjolnir in his hand and lightning sparking around him. It wasn't much longer until the hum was completely dead though and he smiled. As satisfying as it was, Thor knew that it meant that Sif and Steve had found the transmission site and deactivated it.
Striding out of the park, he followed the trail of dead bugs to find the other two in an apartment. Small insectoid bodies littered the floor, but they looked no worse for wear. "Are you both unharmed?" He asked.
