Well, she was proven wrong! Elinor certainly didn't mind being proven wrong at all. She actually grinned a bit when the other girl seemed to be able to identify the type of cigarette just based on how it smelled. "So you were a dealer?" she asked, using the past tense because that was what she'd used.
"And maybe I can try asking, too. Not that I'm a smoker or anything, but it would be interesting to see if they'd give me some." She was just trying to be friendly. Drinking was something she did more naturally, but she has smoked on occasion.
