Re: The woods
It was Sam's mother that heard Neil's question about bringing Louis back, and it was Sam's mother that answered. "Families kidnapped my babies," she said, giving her husband a glare, one that said there was too much talking happening here. "We got them back. No one has a right to steal my babies just because they're rich and we ain't. They belong in jail, serves them right for what they did," she insisted heatedly, but there was something like fear in her eyes. They might be full grown, her look said, but she wasn't giving them up so easy again, and she wasn't going to end up in jail if this one blabbed.
The woman's husband gave Louis a hard, sharp shove, separating him from Neil and sending Louis into the kitchen counter. He draped an arm over Neil's shoulder. "Women. Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em, eh?" he asked, without even the schooling to come up with his own way of expressing his displeasure with his wife's mouthing off.
Sam just shook her head. "This isn't them. They're not this bad," she insisted, but there was no way he was going to believe her, and she knew it. All she wanted was to get the fuck out, to leave this shithole behind.
But her dad was leading Neil toward the bedroom, where the sounds of sex were louder and louder. He knocked on the door once, his one attempt at decency, and then he shoved the door open and pointed at the bathroom. "You two finish up in there. We got business," he barked.
Tess' husband (Sam's husband) dragged his wife into the bathroom without doing anything to cover her up, and Tess just rolled her eyes in apathetic annoyance. "Got some for me?" she asked Neil with a wink and long look up and down. The question earned her a smack on her ass, and the bathroom door slammed shut a second later, and the sex sounds to resume shortly after that.
"100K. You get to take him out of here. I'll deal with my wife," Sam's dad promised generously. "You just send us something monthly, you know, to calm her worries about her boy."
