Re: clearing, in a sleigh.
“So, I’m the reason you’re a mess,” she muttered, and whether or not he heard, she couldn’t muster the energy to repeat it. MK couldn’t follow along for the second time as Adam explored an alternate world where he could be happy. Happier than she had seen or heard him in ages. She simply stood there with the rail the only thing keeping the entire world from shifting and flipping over and tossing her off the edge. She wondered, briefly, how long it would take her to drown herself in the fountain, or what else she could do to take away this blinding pain. Before she could think of more ways, however, he drifted back.
“Yes?” she repeated, her voice cracking with emotion, and the tears were free flowing much worse than the first vision. That had just been a reminder of what she could never have. This was her losing the one thing she did have. “I don’t--.” But she didn’t finish that lie. She did want him, every breathing moment, to herself. “You want all this with her?” Ainslie. The name left a foul taste on her tongue. “Go ahead then, go find her, you scared bastard. If that was who you wanted all along, why drag all of this out? Go, go, go. Find her.” Her cheeks burned red with anger, and she continued to cry and shake and hold onto that railing for dear life.
