Adam handed her a mug of spiced cider and linked his arm with hers as they set back down Main Street. But, she was right. It had changed. "Should have known the hotel couldn't throw a party without something like this." He said giving her a sideways glance before taking a sip of his hot cider. "Could go back." Adam was starting to understand what the dark forest in front of them meant. It had to contain some kind of truth that both of them knew deep down but didn't want to admit it. The kind they were just busy running away from.
And, he stood there for a while, arm reaching to wrap around her shoulders as he kept his eyes focused on the forest. "Point of the party. Not the snow or the sleigh rides. That's why we're here." Adam looked down at her, the comic book gears in his head ticking. "Love you. Know we're always going to be together. Think we can risk it. Want to try, then we can go back." Adam smiled softly at her, but there was a determined glint in his eyes. Like if they could survive whatever hell Passages has cooked up for them, then all their other problems wouldn't even need to be touched.
