"Marmalade," Legolas repeated, looking at the red stuff in the jar. It smelled interesting, if nothing else. Carefully, he scooped some out and spread it on the bread. "Hobbits have all manner of food, and all of it fascinating," he said, his lips curled in a smile. "No wonder the quest was so very hard for you four, when this was the nature of your meals, and the quantity of them."
He bit into the bread, and the red marmalade burst on his tongue, slightly sweet, sharp and crisp and fruity. That prompted a beaming smile, and his face lit up in delight that was entire youthful on him. "This, I like very, very well," he announced.
