Sam knew it well. "It was all we ate for weeks in Mordor," muttered Sam, shaking his head. "That filthy Gollum wanted to eat raw fish when we finally came across it. Ridiculous." Though he did peer over at Legolas as he tried a biscuit, amused how Legolas tasted it briefly.
"I'm afraid we don't have much for honey, but I can offer you some marmalade and butter, if you'd like?" It wouldn't be as sweet as honey, but Sam himself was a fan of bread and jam. "I've fresh strawberry and blackberry marmalade. Rather delicious this time of year. We can usually get a good crop, when Merry and Pippin aren't causing trouble in Farmer Cotton's yard." Sam rose from his chair and gathered the condiments. The butter rested in a neat square on a glass plate shaped for butter, and the marmalade was bright red in a small glass jar. "Da made the jam himself if you fancy it."
