WHO Pepper Potts - Narrative
WHAT Reading a note
WHEN Recently
WHERE Her Malibu apartment
WARNINGS None
Dear Ms Potts, I wanted to write you this note because I'm worried about you. I know I didn't help things by telling Silver and my brother about the bruises, but I didn't tell them about the ones you probably really didn't want them to know about. [...] I don't mean to tell you how to fix whatever happened, but I can't keep coming back hung over. It hurts and it makes teaching very difficult. I want to try to join a company again, too. Please just, be careful? Maybe talk to someone? I know you don't like me very much, and I'm very sorry about that. I just want us to be okay. I want you to be okay. I'm sorry, Ms Potts. Very sincerely, Justine Pepper read and re-read the note so many times she had it memorized. It was unacceptable, really, that her coping mechanisms were impacting Justine in a negative manner. In truth, she hadn't been thinking about the other girl at all, only about her own problems. The men weren't stupid. They would've noticed how Justine moved, would've known something was wrong even if she didn't explicitly say anything. She sighed and deleted the thing from their shared phone. Pepper didn't want to look at it anymore. She set her phone down and made her way out to the balcony, where the sun was just barely above the horizon, sinking further and further with every minute. Objectively, she knew she needed to stop wallowing. She was better than this, better than trying to out drink Tony all because a man at a party did exactly as she'd asked. It wasn't nearly as simple as that, not at all, but she could focus on that. She could survive on that, and she hadn't told anyone anything which meant it was safely hers, and hers alone. Pepper returned inside and put all the alcohol away. She wouldn't touch it for a while. See if that helped. Ms Sorenson, All is well. -P Potts |
