"You're not meeting anyone." This time, the words were an accusation. He didn't cheat, steal, lie. Mostly, anyway; it was less lying, more manipulation. The devil could quote scripture to support his cause, after all. So he may have lied on occasion, but it didn't mean he couldn't dislike liars. Strange that he should choose to dislike something so innocent. His grip tightened on her arm, not yet conceding to her release. He could see the insincerity in her eyes, even in the night's darkness that circled around them like it smelled blood. Was he so transparent?
