"Better, you damn fool." The Hellblazer rubbed his eye, careful not to smudge or remove the mark it had left on his forehead. He was growing to like it. "Much better. Yeah, you're hurt. And, I get that. But, with them? You didn't have a future. You were put in place to get shit done. That's it." The Hellblazer turned to look back at the water, smiling. He outstretched his arms. "Now look at you. Making a demon killer hold his breath and...whatever the hell else you did up there. You wanted to dig deep in your desires? Your needs? Well buckle up, sister. It's a bumpy ride."
It occurred to him that each passing moment gave the fallen a new pronoun. Maybe deep down it was some girl who ran away from a life of beauty pageants and table manners. Maybe it was a guy who liked other guys too much. Didn't matter to the Hellblazer. They were all the same monster.
