He didn't hear her approaching until her footsteps were almost right behind him, and his shoulders tightened, tensed, hunched up as if to hide his face. As she stepped next to him and pressed a hand to the balcony as well, staring down at whatever he was seeing, she didn't look over, which was - aside from being bypassed completely - the best possible scenario. He stared blankly down at the crowd for a few frozen seconds before turning away from her sharply.
"Nothing. Just - looking around." He buried his hands in his pockets in the hope of their long, twisted scars going unnoticed. But the rest of his face, below the mask? If she was able to see him from the front, he wouldn't be able to keep himself out of sight.
