Re: Grand Staircase
Oh yes, this was indeed an honorable man. He had met so few of those in his lifetime that he could scarcely believe one stood before him now, yet perhaps he was not one normally; he was not who he should be, after all, and the same might hold true for the warrior. "In that case, good sir, I'm sure you have the gratitude of many in attendance here tonight." While the man had no need for protection himself, he was aware that there were those who most certainly did.
He had expected such a response, and his smile said as much. Oh, he hardly begrudged the warrior his lack of dancing prowess, for he was no expert himself, yet his honesty was surprisingly refreshing. "Not very well," he repeated, "but you do dance, regardless of your skill." There might have been a hint of teasing in the statement, which was uncharacteristic of him to say the least, but the newfound freedom that came with appearance was intoxicating. Should it be little more than a dream in the morning, he wanted to make the most of every moment before it came to an end. To say he did not enjoy the attention he received would be a lie, and he would miss it terribly once it was gone.
"Perhaps you've not yet found the right teacher," he suggested, the humor in his eyes belying his serious tone. "Regardless, shuffling around the floor is no less dancing than whatever else might occur." The man paused, deciding he liked the warrior's smile; it was genuine, and so few things were in his experience. "Would you give me a demonstration of your shuffling, sir? I'd like to see it." His tone was playful now, another anomaly, but he no longer cared.
