WHO Bianca & (NPC) Rosie Shay
WHAT Picking Rosie up from school
WHEN This afternoon
WHERE Rosie's pre-school
WARNINGS None
Bianca was feeling much better now that she’d settled into some kind of routine. Her days consisted of classes, watching Rosie, and her volunteer work, which was more than enough to keep her so busy that she just didn’t have time to really sit and think about how her personal life just sucked. She missed Mike, missed Andrew, missed everyone. She didn’t know how to help Cory, not really, and Micah was withdrawing from her again. At least Ryan was around, she was glad for that, and she and Aubrey had started to rekindle their friendship a bit. Of course, that meant drinking, but she had a surprisingly good handle on her liquor and she was grateful for that. This year, since her classes ended so close to when Rosie’s school finished, Bianca volunteered to pick the girl up on those days. Her car was a sleek tan Elantra, certainly quite safe, and the little girl was waiting for her just like usual. The teachers all knew that she had permission to take Rosie so there wasn’t any issue at all when the small girl ran for her as soon as she appeared at the door. Bee scooped her up and spun her around with a smile. “Hey girlie. You ready to go?” “Yes! Yes! We can bake today right? You said we could bake.” Rosie was adamant as Bianca picked up the girl’s bright pink princess bag and started to head out to the car. “Of course we can! I said we would, didn’t I? And don’t I always keep my promises?” The car seat was in the back, as it should be, and Bee started to strap the little girl in. “You did!” she exclaimed, like it was the most important thing she’d ever said in her little life. “You do! You do! Can you promise that Daddy will buy me all the things on my birthday list? Please, please, please?” Bianca just laughed and gave the child a light tap on the nose. “I’ll see what I can do, but I think it means you’re going to have to be a very good girl. Taking baths and everything.” Rosie wrinkled her nose and Bee bit back a smile. “That’s what I thought,” she teased, before shutting the car door and getting into the driver’s seat. Neither girl noticed the man standing next to a tree not too far away, snapping dozens and dozens of pictures of them. Nor did they notice the next day or the day after that, or for the entire two weeks that man was there, watching them, taking pictures. |
