Who: Mingmei and Kitane
What: Mingmei's scared of Michael and she doesn't know who else she can turn to
Where: Kitane's place
When: The weekend...maybe Sunday, September 2nd
Warnings: None really...discussion of Alters.

Mingmei hadn't known what to do. Michael had given her no choice whether or not she should cross over at Passages. One minute she'd been studying for an exam that she had this week, the next her feet were moving towards the hotel. She'd found herself trapped in his head, and his world was scary. He had tattoos up and down his body, something that Mingmei couldn't begin to figure out. He was running from something, but he kept a tight grip on his mind and wasn't letting her know too much. What little she knew she picked up from conversations with someone he called Linc, his brother apparently. She was exhausted just by trying to reason through a few things, so she had no idea how he kept fighting like this.

When he returned her safely back to her own world, Mingmei demanded a few answers. She learned he'd escaped from prison, a penitentiary, but that he'd put himself there to save his brother's life. She could respect that, but still. Prisons were meant to keep people in. Someone who could break out of one and still be alive like he was...it was scary. So she'd written to the one person who she thought she could explain this to. Kitane. The girl was a pretty good friend, someone who she appreciated. Someone else who understood her determination to learn languages and to figure things out. So when Michael finally returned her to the real world, Mingmei fled to Kitane's place.

She knocked nervously on the door, worried that at any moment, Michael might try to take control again like he had so abruptly. She understood that he was worried about something serious, but she had a life to live too.

When she'd gotten the message from Mingmei, she called down to the front desk to make sure they let her friend up to the penthouse. Kitane didn't have that many problems with Dany, except for the fact that the other girl frequently wanted to spend more time in her side of the door, which was usually okay, but Kitane liked to be back by the evening so she could spend time with Theo.

It usually took some bouncing, but they were slowly and surely working things out. She had no idea what to expect from Mingmei's person though. Would her friend be okay?

She paced around the penthouse until she heard the knock at the door that led from the elevators to inside and hurried to answer it. "Mingmei!" Kitane said as soon as she opened it, her arms immediately going around her friend. "Come in! Tell me everything."

When Kitane opened the door, the young Chinese girl looked quite relieved to see a friendly face. She smiled happily over at her and let her friend embrace her. She, too, fell into her hug, comforted for the moment. However, she knew she couldn't stay like that forever, so it didn't take her long before she shifted over to Kitane's apartment and looked around with surprise. The place was rather large, she had to admit. "Like I say, this...this man is a bit scary," she admitted softy, her tones quiet.

"I know little about him, but he knows a lot of stuff. Scary things," Mingmei remarked with a shiver. "And he's running from something. Some bad guys or something." She didn't know how else to explain, but she did know that she had a bad feeling about Michael. "I don't think he's bad, but he's doing something scary."

"What's he doing?" Kitane asked, her eyebrows coming together. Her hand immediately reached out for Mingmei's. Even on the best days she liked to be close to people and now she felt the need to stay close to her friend even more when she was so worried.

Of course, Kitane didn't stay worried for long as she started tugging Mingmei towards the kitchen. "Tell me everything while I --" she took a deep breath before her mouth ran away from her again. "Do you want something to drink? I can make tea." This seemed like a tea type of situation, rather than whiskey or wine and besides, whiskey burned her insides and she wasn't even sure that Mingmei liked wine. "We've got milk and juice too, if you don't want tea."

Tea was a standard drink in China, and Mingmei was quite content to take whatever her friend had to offer. She smiled fondly over at Kitane and added lightly: "Yes, tea is good." She looked over at the other girl warily, but she was happy that Kitane liked to be close to people. People here in America didn't seem to want that at all, and sometimes, Mingmei didn't know what to do.

"He's...I don't think he's bad, but he was in prison. He's now running from something," Mingmei remarked quietly. "I don't know much about him and he won't tell me a lot. Says I'm better off not knowing everything there is to know about him or something like that." Her English was improving, possibly thanks to Michael's influence, but sometimes when she was worried, speaking better in English came more naturally.
