"That's something, anyway," conceded Lin, keeping his tone serious. He stretched his arms above his head before moving toward the sofa. "I couldn't very well not use chopsticks. At least a couple of my own traditionalist ancestors would come down hard on me."
With an amused smile, the boy watched from across the room as Yukiko removed her shoes. He was about to pretend to be highly offended at this wanton display when the girl pulled a pair of slippers out of her Mary Poppins bag. He laughed at that and sat down heavily at the sofa.
"You minx," Lin said without conviction, waiting to be joined. "Only bunny slippers are allowed in this house. But I'll let it go this one time - because I'm not going to let you destroy me, it will simply happen."
First-person shooters were not his strong suit. He always got really caught up in what was happening and that made the scary parts that much worse.
