You're standing in a shallow part of the sea. It was blue green, a color known only at a few places on Earth. The water was warm around your calves, dirty pants rolled up to your thin child's thighs.
You bent down in the water, swaying with the waves as they rolled in, slow and gentle, tickling at your legs and arms. With them came the fish, and you kept your arms still, all of you still within the water as they became curious.
The fishermen taught you this. You don't move, knowing that if you moved now, you won't catch a fish, and your belly was already rumbling. One fish ventured closer, silvery scales flashing between your outstretched hands and it turned to kiss your palm, making you giggle. You wanted to reach, but you waited and soon enough you were rewarded, as the little fish rubbed its whole body against your sensitive palm. You clapped both hands together, fish caught between them and lifted your prize high, into the sun, with a happy peal of laughter.
