Re: warning: violence
Jack came back to the world with a quick draw of breath, sitting up sharply. It felt like waking up from a nightmare, drawing first breath after opening one's eyes. But it hadn't been like any nightmare he'd ever had. He hadn't recognized the man, and he'd been...someone else. Definitely. The voice that had come from his mouth in the vision had been a woman's, as had the body that was beaten half to death.
What was this? One more trick of the hotel, one more torturous punishment? It was like it knew, what he was, what he'd been fearing of late, to send him that memory. He'd felt something like that sort of helplessness, that kind of physical pain, and he had to take a few long breaths before he could even begin to slough it off. Cold anger roiled in his stomach. The woman's voice had sounded so familiar, but the man - he hadn't recognized him, but he wouldn't forget his face. He'd find him. Somehow, some way, if what he'd seen was real, he'd make him pay for what he'd done to her.
