Who: Pepper Potts (narrative)
What: Contemplating things
When: After leaving Silver and before contacting Spider-Man
Where: Stark Tower, New York, Marvel Door
Warnings: None
Felicia hadn't wanted to leave Silver. She felt responsible him, but she couldn't figure out if it was influenced at all by Pepper's incessant need to care for Tony. She stepped through the door, ready to do what was necessary to keep the man safe in both forms. The transformation was immediate and barely noticeable as Pepper took control, striding across the tiled floor with practiced ease. She was in the same room she'd just helped Tony out of, but she didn't take a seat at his desk. Instead, she stood there in the silence.
He's an idiot.
"Oh, hush. He is not an idiot. He just...does what he wants," Pepper snapped out loud.
So you just sit there and watch him risk his life without caring about anyone else?
Pepper glared at the wall, unable to really reply to that. She'd sat there once before and watched as he hid the Iron Man suit from her and then the fact that he had been dying. It was hard to argue that she did just sit there and watch as he did what he wanted. He made it easy for her to keep things professional sometimes, but there were still those moments that-
Those moments aren't worth it. He always proves you wrong. You can't just sit there and cling to professionalism if you're still going to argue that he has 'moments' when he cares about someone other than himself.
"Someone has to take care of him," Pepper replied softly. "He won't do it himself."
Then take care of him.
What could she do? Pepper had never really been in this situation before and she wasn't happy with not knowing exactly what she could do. Silver had mentioned Spider-Man, and if Pepper was going to make sure that Silver had time to recover, she didn't want Spider-Man telling him about every last thing going on. Directing that information flow to her would take some stress off Tony, hopefully. With that in mind, she reached out to Spider-Man through the journals, hoping that he'd respond.
