Re: [Theo/Kitane] Bartolotta
"Yes," Kitane said simply, before her lips curled up into something that could only be called a teasing grin. "They're decorative sharks. Not big ones." Nothing so big as a Great White, or even a Whale shark. They would be too big and probably not at all comforting or cozy, but little sharks could be fun to watch. Comforting even. Maybe they'd even move the globes on the pool.
She was still busy watching it while Theo ordered. Which was fine by her; she'd told him what she wanted and she couldn't read half of what was on the menu anyway, not to mention that they'd avoid the usual price fight that followed whenever Kitane saw the prices on anything. All she heard was a bunch of sounds that could have been words -- she understood seafood stew -- followed by a lot of other words that she didn't understand and didn't know.
Once the waiter left, she watched him lift his glass and slowly did the same with her own. Mimicry had served her well in the past, but it meant paying a great deal of attention, so much that the rest of the world slid away, pools and sharks and decorative fish all pushed back in her thoughts. Theo was smiling, so she did too, and paid close attention to his words. Had it been that long already? It didn't feel like it, but she repeated his words carefully, "To three months of living together," she said quietly and touched her glass to his when he tilted his towards her.
It seemed to be some sort of ritual, but what it was, Kitane didn't know. She made a mental note to ask later and watched as Theo took a sip of his wine. Following him, she took a sip of hers as well. It was light and not at all like the whiskey that Theo had at home that made her want to spit it right back up. This was good and she found herself taking another sip, just to be sure. The second sip was better than the first, but she knew better than to drain the whole glass and set it back politely on the table once he did. "It's better than your burning whiskey," Kitane promptly informed him.
