[Sunday evening, sensors detect someone going in and out of the dry well entrance of the Batcave, but the cameras don't pick anything up, indicating the intruder knows how to avoid them. She avoids the main chamber, and she carefully touches nothing, even with her gloves, and she keeps her mouth covered throughout (just to be safe). She takes only one thing: A substantial vial of green goop from the Lazarus Pit. She doesn't stay for even a second afterward.]

How is it, where you are? The Shire is as it ever is, though I think maybe I could try to escape for a wee holiday. Mr. Frodo probably wouldn't know that I'm gone too long, he's been so busy as of late. Always off wandering, he is. He's always been one for adventures and stories, though.

It's maddening, knowing that Mr. Bilbo has the Ring here, and that there's not a darn thing I can do about it. He has to know it's not good for him, doesn't he? I would think, certainly! I can see it changing him now. He doesn't age, Mr. Bilbo. He's 109 but he looks like he could be 50, still a young hobbit! It never struck me as odd before, just that he was lucky, Mr. Bilbo was.

Miss Elinor, the woman in the other world, saw the movie of Mr. Bilbo's life before everything happened. He was pretty brave, Mr. Bilbo was, but when he took the Ring from that horrid creature...I don't honestly know what he was thinking! I understand now though. The...whatever you call it. The want of it, I guess. I don't really care much for it and just want it GONE, but Mr. Frodo even felt its pull there at the end. Were it not for that wretched Gollum, Mr. Frodo would have been taken by the Ring, too. It's why I can't just go find him and kill the creature, because without him, Mr. Frodo would have been lost forever.

Gotham Elementary school is voluntarily evacuated shortly after lunch today and all students are sent home.

Adults and children have begun to flock to the city's ERs and Urgent Care centers, all with the same general flu-like symptoms. The worst cases are admitted to medical floors.

Johnny Masterson is brought to Gotham General ER and admitted to the Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit (PIMCU) with severe flu. Overnight he will be transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) when his vital signs continue to deteriorate and buboes appear on his body. Prophylactic IV antibiotics will be administered while the hospital waits for results on a blood culture to see if he does have the Bubonic plague.

John Masterson is safely landed in Berlin and prepares for a day of meetings and conferences. Everyone on both planes he flew on are infected.

Police are visibly present to help control panic and to direct people towards available ERs.

[It is early Monday morning before the sun gets all the way up when a security alarm goes off in Stark Tower. The skeleton night staff immediately evacuate as part of a security protocol probably meant for potential explosion, but no bomb goes off--not even a small one in Tony Stark's lab. Anyone that attempts to remain in the building is sealed off in individual chambers until JARVIS can talk them out of leaving by specified chambers.

Tony knows exactly what he was just exposed to.

Note that Stark Tower continues to be one of the few reliable, solid power sources in Marvel New York City.]
