[news: vegas]
[It happens outside a bar at 4 in the morning. Vegas closing time has rolled around, two hours from 4-6, and everyone left over is emptying out onto the street.
Later, the morning news reports a brawl involving two men, a fight which escalated into a high speed car chase when one of the men tried to leave the scene, and ended in both being arrested.
More details emerge later in the day, and the news goes viral when the name of one of the men involved in the altercation is published - Blake Thorne. Along with the name comes a shoddy cell phone video of the fight. The video begins with the fight already underway. The sound is poor, but the two men can be heard slurring obscenities at each other. Witnesses claim Thorne attacked the other man when he began calling him a litany of slurs based around his sexual orientation, apparently spurred on by seeing him kiss another man at the bar. Both were bloodied, bruised, and very much inebriated by the time the other participant got in his car to flee the scene, and Thorne got into his own to follow him. Both were arrested after ten blocks at well over the speed limit and charged with DUI. Thorne has additionally been charged with assault and battery based on witness testimony.
Aside from the cell phone footage, cable news repeatedly runs a short video clip of Thorne getting out of his car the following afternoon at his apartment building after posting bail. He has sunglasses firmly in place and a lawyer to field questions with no comment from the press. One paparazzo who gets too close earns a shove from Thorne for his trouble, and he stumbles and falls. He almost immediately files suit against Thorne for damages, claiming emotional and physical harm.
Most articles and features on the events highlight Blake's reputation as a bisexual playboy with a previous possession charge to his name. They also reference the kidnapping and murder three years earlier of Eric Masterson, who was embroiled in a relationship with Thorne at the time of his death. Thorne was initially prime suspect, though a high-ranking member of the Thorne group and former Thorne family friend was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder earlier in the year, and is now allegedly responsible.
Abraham Thorne, prominent businessman and owner of the Thorne group, refuses to comment about his son's pending charges, as do the team of lawyers who swoop in to handle the case. No statement is made, and a hearing date is set for next week. The paparazzo makes the interview circuit, condemning Blake Thorne's behavior and expressing an urgent wish for him to get help.]
