Harry Potter, with the help of the Order and Dumbledore's Army, defeated Lord Voldemort. In the intervening months, things initially looked promising. The Wizarding World was in a state of celebration. Or, they were, until the first Dark Mark lit up the sky over a slaughtered family. As the weeks and months went by, countless people were murdered. There seemed to be no pattern, or even any sense in the killings. The scattered Death Eaters were killing for both sport and revenge. With the Dementors running free, many of the most brutal Death Eaters have escaped or were rescued from Azkaban. The werewolves, whom no one would have believed were lying low under Voldemort's reign, have began to attack people in earnest. Many of their members have been captured only to be sprung from Azkaban by the pack at a later date. The infection is spreading faster than ever before and the public is in a panic. The only bright spot was Kingsley Shacklebolt. He was elected Minister and proved himself to be honest, intelligent and able to get things done. Which brings us to December of 1998 and Kingsley Shacklebolt's attack and violent murder by a group of former Death Eaters being led by Bellatrix Lestrange. A new reign of leadership will be ushered in as Alexander Brasher steps in as Minister. The Wizarding World will rise to its former glory and behave itself, if Brasher has to tag, monitor and imprison every miscreant personally. A soft stance and pretending ignorance of evil has done nothing but harm in the past, and he has no intentions of repeating those mistakes. New laws will be passed, harsher sentences will be given, and law enforcement will focus on crime prevention rather than scurrying to find the person responsible for the body parts. In the upcoming months, the Ministry will identify and monitor those most likely to cause problems. All Werewolves, and dark creatures, will be given a higher incentive to register themselves. In an effort to control the Werewolves, Wolfsbane Potion will be given out to those who adhere to Ministry laws. Unfortunately, as the Potion becomes available on the Black Market and Fenrir's Pack gains the ability to remain lucid during the full moon, the Werewolf attacks only increase. More people are turned and some are even kept as potential pack mates. The scattered and unorganized Death Eaters are proving to be just as much of a problem as Voldemort ever was - in body count if nothing else. The Ministry is desperately trying to control the situation but only managing to gain more enemies and a panicked public for their trouble. The Order has regrouped, some grudgingly but others with new purpose. After all, as bad as this senseless violence is, it's only a matter of time before the scattered remains of Voldemort's forces come together and a new leader is crowned. |
