Hugs and kisses were always welcome and appreciated. As were flowers. The purple caused a smile. Fen knew her all too well. Granted, it wasn't exactly a closely guarded secret that her favorite color was purple.
The princess nickname had been a deliberate way of picking at her when they'd first met, but these days she was very fond of it. And honestly, she was kind of a princess. A badass self-rescuing princess, but a princess nevertheless.
"Sorry to throw your plan off course," she said, in a tone that made it very clear she wasn't all that sorry. She liked keeping Fen on her toes. She took the flowers with a smile, moving to put them in water and get Fen's presents. The roses were joined by a box with a ring, though she had been careful not to make it look like a standard ring box. No need to give the wrong idea. And anyway, Valentine's proposals were tacky.
"Great minds think alike," she said, as she handed Fen the roses. "Now, are you going to tell me where you're whisking me away to, or is it a surprise?"
