Re: IC/OOC
Contrary to popular belief, Tobias does actually attend social events. He learned how important they were from his parents.
He'd show up in a properly tailored suit. Throughout the evening, he'd make his way around the event area, talking with people he knew, and some people he didn't. Wealthy, poor, perfectly coiffed, sloppy, it didn't matter. Tobias would talk to anyone pointed out by those he knew. Topics would range from how the night was going to their view of the soon-to-come school to how the snow was affecting the other person's work. Really, it was seemingly mindless chatter. He'd use one of his drink tickets to obtain a single glass of a nice red wine, which he'd spend the night sipping from. It was mostly a prop, a tool to toast to peoples' health. By the end of the night, the glass would still be about half full.
Besides talking and attempting to partake in the two auctions, Tobias wouldn't do much else. It was unlikely that he would do any dancing, and by the end of the night, his jacket would have been removed and placed over the arm not holding his drink. When not chatting with people to further his mission of the night, he'd be spending time with those he knew, even if the temptation to hide along the sides was there. Some people who knew Tobias would know that the point of his conversations, even if they seemed random, would be to simultaneously find more donors for the school while trying to shift any questionable or negative opinions. He'd also be planting seedlings in the minds of people who have backgrounds in education. No one has told Tobias to do this, but he wanted to. He wanted the school to succeed, and if that meant he took what could have been a relaxing social event and turned it into work.
