Imagine your world being ripped apart. The small tendrils of reality that roll and twist together unfurling before you. Your mind pushing the fabric of reality apart, with a glow of eyes and a thrust of fist or kick of foot and that fabric becomes glass-like, shattering and falling away.
A star shaped doorway showed in front of Fen as her eyes and wrists lit up, adding a light blue shine to everything she looked at. It was almost like everything was backlit with a blue iridescent light when her eyes were lit up to open a portal. If she had been a different person it might have been amusing walking around and picking up object after object and giggling at the blue glow each item took on. Fen wasn't that person as eyes narrowed, assessing the area around her.
Scanning the nearly barren dystopian landscape that was made of floating rocks that seemed to be barely connected to one another as they twisted in the lessened gravity of this world. Some were bigger than others, some even had enough to room on them to host some life. A few trees, some even had grass. The most concerning item of this area was the massive insects that dominated the space. Those creatures were easy enough to dispatch but that meant this wasn’t really a place to fall asleep.
Sleep.
Previously, it had been a sometimes precarious thing. On the nights where the multiverse didn’t offer a bed and she couldn’t find a way into one - Fen had never been one for pointless sex, not really - or a safe place to sleep, this dimension had served for naps. It wasn’t like massive insects were quiet but the bone tired she got nowadays from going hard across the multiverse? Where she wouldn’t wake up for ten hours or more at a time? Where she slept through alarms and grinned when Lore fussed at her to wake up? She never could have done that before. Not here. Not in many places across the multiverse.
When Lore had tossed out the idea of them living together, the idea of giving Fen a bed to rest in every night, it was… It had been.. A lot. Fen had run off into the multiverse for half a week just out of sheer not knowing how the fuck to respond.
It wasn’t a very mature move.
However, the multiverse had needed the help.
The fact that the multiverse always needed the help was besides the point.
An agreement to live together, to have a life of some sort together had been made, eventually. After a long series of strange dancing around each other, even before the offer had been formally made.
But sometimes Fen still found herself back here. In the floating void that tried to call itself a world. At least it was quiet.
Unlike Earth. Unlike the planet and city she’d agreed to inhabit as her primary universe at this time. Unlike the universe that held so much color and sound and life. Sometimes that was a blessing, sometimes a curse.
It was good that Lore was okay helping orient Fen to Earth because sometimes… Sometimes that shit that went on there was fucking weirder than the fictional stories of superheroes and heronines she’d read growing up, than the power team her mother’s had been, than… Fuck. Who even knew anymore. Considering she was the one that came from a fucking universe were nothing was ever wrong. Until everything had gone wrong.
That was enough thinking about that.
And not a moment too soon as a distantly thunderous sound of approaching wings began.
Was dealing with fucking Mothra on the menu today?
Shit. She’d really been spending too much time with Lore if that was her first thought in response to this shit… Or maybe not enough.
Fen really wasn’t in the mood to turn this shirt into an acid wash version today anyway and she… did…
Well, time to go home to Lore. That settled that.
