[Event: Attack of the Shadow Goblins!]

What: Shadow Goblins Attack!
Where: Dark back ally (open to specific location)
When: Late night March 16th
Rating: PG
Status: OPEN
The blessing bestowed upon the gremlins to replicate by the caster had had a monumental effect. What had started as a small group of five shadow gremlins that struggled to remain in this world as their shadowy selves hung between realities had quickly grown into the hundreds with much more solid forms as the shadow goblins fed on rats and trash and whatever else they found in the gutters of Ivalice’s streets if alive or not. However, the reality of them remained only spoken about in hushed whispers amongst those ‘in the know’. Normal people joked about the dryer dwarves stealing more than socks, or blamed their horrible memories for items going missing - if not blaming others they knew - suddenly but those who knew the world was not all it was cracked up to be could see something else. Could see small creatures darting too and fro in the middle of the nights often far too fast for a normal person to catch, could see the gleam of precious metals and gems they carried off into the dark.
Yet, they could only be allowed to cause chaos for so long.
As the shadow goblins continued to feed and grew in size, in strength, they cemented their forms in the reality they had been summoned to instead of wafting between the shadow worlds from where they had come and our own. Unfortunately for them, this made the creatures easier to see, to fight and perhaps even to catch. If it weren’t for the fact that - even while growing - the goblins still remained under three feet (one meter) tall and they were desperately fast they might had been caught, but not yet.
Not until tonight.
A group of fifteen of the shadow goblins surged and crawled over each other against the metal mesh covering a back alley storefront window - like a pack of rats scrambling to abandon a sinking ship they climbed over one another again and again - trying to gnaw open the grates and force their way through the glass as they chattered and hissed in a language of their own.
It was then that an innocent drunk bypasser would come upon the scene. Having stumbled into the alley, reaching for a wall to catch their balance eyes would be slow to see the surging mass of shadow goblins bashing themselves into the protective front grate of the shop in attempts to get through.
“Hu--whaaatt.” Eyes blurred around the edges from booze blinked and tried to focus, squeezing shut before slowly blinking open again. Yup, the mass of surging creatures still remained. That was when one of them seemed to take notice of the onlooker who had stumbled ignorantly onto the situation at hand.
The shadow goblin that saw the person paused, taking the person into full view changing the trajectory of its gaze. A low chattering - almost a warning like sound - began to emanate from the shadow goblin that had broken off from the pack and as the seconds ticked by the other goblins began to notice the sound and their frantic assault on the gate slowed, their attention turning to the onlooker slowly, shadow goblin by shadow goblin. At first the person stood there, confused before the first goblin began to slowly sniff at the person, smelling the person as the creature slowly started towards them.
“Oh hey, good uh, good dog.” The man offered to the shadow goblin beginning to approach him. It was then that the shadow goblin’s jaw unhinged showing it’s mouthful of three rows of razor sharp teeth as a low growl started to echo from the pack of monsters.
“Whoa, hey! None, none of that!” The man yelled, frozen in fear for a moment, looking behind himself for help before starting to slowly, so slowly, creep backwards step by unsteady step. “Nice doggy, niiiceeee dog…”
With a snarl the goblin lunged and the man screamed, bolting out of the alley all by himself.
