Whatever compelled Katie to agree to meeting with Fred & George Weasley this evening had since managed to fade ever so slightly. Sure she was excited and ever-so-ready to catch up with her former mates. There was a minor setback, however. It was a last minute arrangement. Normally finding a babysitter was all too easy providing Dru was off work. This time was different though. Her roommate was to be accompanying Kate on this journey back to England. That considered, the anxious single mother had no choice but to leave Sebastien in the care of her baby sister.
Iris was a brilliant aunt; she really was! The girl was just a bit on the naive side. She didn't see the harm in having a few mates over to help her with the task. And believe it, babysitting the infant was a task! He'd inherited his father's fiery temper and his mum's persistence. Even though he was not yet 5 months old, that was apparent. Of course Iris pitched a fit until Kate conceded, allowing her one previously approved bird to assist her sister in the role.
Dru and Kate used side-by-side apparition and wound up a couple of blocks shy of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. Though the times had changed Diagon Alley, this trip she knew all too well. The restless blonde shrugged her oversized jumper tighter, casting a wary glance to her mate as they began their descent. "I shouldn't have left him with her, Dru. What if something bad happens?" Her flatmate knew all too well Kate's concerns. She'd lived with this side of Katie for a good several months now.
She halted momentarily tugging Dru to a stop beside her. "Really. The twins would understand." No they wouldn't. She had no intention of explaining the baby situation to them. Not just yet anyway. She had to hope for some form of agreement on her mate's part, though. Maybe all of this was foolish? Sometimes it's best to let things ride, after all. Maybe her friendship with the twins was destined to be a distant one at best now that they no longer had common ties between them. Whatever situation she chose, Kate could think of a million reasons to turn tail and scurry back to the rabbit hole. Where was that fleeting Gryffindor spirit she'd once donned proudly?
