wow, why don't I just write an essay?
Against, but I'm a bit sympathetic because of the ridiculous amount of time it takes to actually be declared legal once you're here. (I've heard in some cases the wait being 16+ years).
On another note, I don't think illegal immigrants that are here right now and abiding by the law should be kicked out. I understand that most countries in the world are not nearly as fortunate as we are, and some people truly do want to be here to be able to provide for their families in other areas. I don't particularly like that it's being done illegally, but I respect the sentiment.
One thing that kind of ticks me though is the issue of taxing and public schooling. It bothers me how some people are able to recieve the same education for free as others who are paying for their children in taxes and someone else's children (picking up the monetary slack, if you will.)
As for illegal immigrants that come here to partake in illegal activities only...there should be no middle ground for that, absolutely. You're here and you do good and have good intentions...I mean...I guess that's okay, then. You're here to fuck everything up...you can leave. I won't even bother saying that they should be put in American jails because then taxpayers are paying for an illegal immigrant to be housed and fed in a correctional facility.
I think strict border security would be great if planned and executed properly, but I know it's an extremely complicated process that covers a LOT of terrain. My thing with that is...well...sure, you can block up security on the southern border, but who says that a group of malicious illegal immigrants (not even speaking of those from Mexico or countries from South America, either. If we're capable to getting to those countries, other people are capable of getting to them as well) can't take a plane or a boat up to Canada and cross into the U.S. from there? :-/ it's a lot to think about.
