oh my GOD you guys, i just got a letter from a guy in prison.
"dear erin,
i'd like to start this letter by introducing myself. my name is joseph but everyone calls me joey. i'm 21 yrs old. i am new at this "pen pal" thing so please bare with me. and hopefully you will give me a chance to get to know you.
your sister's friend robin showed me a picture of you, and i must say, you are very beautiful! i don't have a picture of myself but i can get you one if you like.
i've been locked up for 2 years now and everyone i know has faded away other than my father. that's why i'm really wanting someone to write back and forth with me. basically i just need a friend. i promise that i'll never ask anything from you other than a letter.
although i am in prison i can say that i am one of the few that even try to make something of themselves. there's not much to do here but i always work out and practice my art work. anywhere from paintings, tattoos, portraits and any drawings at all. i know it's kind of boring but that's all i have to work with. if there is any kind of picture you would like me to draw, please let me know and i will.
there's so much i can say but i don't want to ruin the first letter. if you do decide to write back please don't be shy. tell me a few things about yourself so i can have a good idea of what you are like. i can see a great personality in you just by seeing your picture. hopefully you will like the card i did for you.
sincerely, joseph."
the card is amazingly well-drawn and looks like he put a TON of time into it. if you're confused, my sister's childhood best friend is in prison and they write back and forth, i can only assume that this guy is his cell mate, wanted a friend and robin gave him my address. my dad is like, forbidding me to write him back, but i just might. should i?????
