While it was true that Cassie had gone through an adjustment period (six years on, Scott could remember with sparkling clarity the amount of tears she'd shed upon boarding that train), he doubted she'd begrudge Peggy a lack of one. If anything, it meant that Peggy had been accustomed to this life early on, and could offer far more insight on how to navigate the finer points of Capitol culture. Scott, obviously, lacked those social graces - as Cassie hadn't hesitated to remind him during their last few Stane-approved visits. Twelve would feel the same way, he was sure. Maybe it was good that she'd be subjected to a stopover in One. It might help to wean her off of the Capitol and better prepare her for returning to a place where hot water was considered a luxury.
And it might prove mutually beneficial for Peggy. The corner of his mouth turned up in a smile as she hinted at her plan to temporarily dissuade her father from grandchildren. "Oh, she'll be good for that. Should probably apologize ahead of time, I don't think she's going to be all that happy to leave the Capitol. Make sure you get them in the same room early-on, there's this pouting, crossed-arms combo she does that's just," Scott kissed the tips of his fingers and brought his hand away from his mouth, splaying the digits. "Makes you really question your life choices. Should be a pretty powerful deterrent."
Scott's hands found his pockets again, letting out a laugh that was somewhere between a chuckle and a breath. Not quite humorless, but not quite full of humor, either. "She's probably going to be a handful, I'm sorry ahead of time. If I thought it'd be safe, I'd take her right to her mother, but they'll be going to Maggie for interviews--be easy to take her right back to the Capitol, in that case. So thank you. You're a good person for doing this. It.. means a lot."
