"Just a helpful suggestion," he countered, swinging the screen back to its original position and resuming his series of touch-ups. It didn't take long - another minute, maybe - before he seemed to be satisfied, and closed out of the file, dumping it back into the deep, complex, and rather disorganized maze of his project bank. Anyone looking for one particular item in his portfolio would have been pretty seriously out of luck; his system of organization was hardly a system at all, relying more on memory and personal inclination than any guiding principle, like knowing you'd left your shoes in the bookshelf because you just knew. Without active and conscientious intervention, his entire life probably would have followed that model.
Lucky for him, that was someone's full-time job. He unhooked the synthesizer, flipped it upright again, and slid it back to Jarvis, for good this time. "All right. All yours." He made no move to stand, and didn't seem to think Jarvis should, either - he was grateful, really, that they'd fallen into this casual arrangement, that he could dispense with any of the physical cues and difficulties required when you were standing around a room. It was much easier not knowing quite what to say when you had props. Not that not knowing quite what to say meant he was sitting silently. "If you run into any bugs - I mean, you won't, there aren't any bugs. But if you find anything you don't like, tell me, I'll change it. I should have done it before, I guess. I'm just up to here with fucking - whatever it is, this week." He picked up a thick, bound volume of papers that was almost certainly irrelevant to whatever it was he was currently supposed to be working on. "... High frequency sonic aversion fencing installations." No, that had been a couple months ago. Hm. "Anyway. Who cares." He tossed the whole thing over his shoulder, where it landed on the floor with a satisfying thud. "This was more fun. You want something to drink?"
It called for a celebration, right? And that would give him something to do with his mouth other than run it.
