"Think they'd just make me retake it," Bucky said. Being photogenic had been half of how he was marketed, before his Games. Things might have changed when he came out, but not enough that he could get away with pulling faces at a camera until it went away. That was a unique Scott skill, Bucky was pretty sure. But even Scott couldn't get away with it all the time. Sometimes, they wanted pictures, hell or high water. It seemed to work tonight though, for the most part.
Bucky really doubted fine was anywhere close to where Scott was. But this wasn't where you called him on it, either. He wasn't sure if you ever called someone on it - Bucky couldn't always tell when you pushed to make someone admit they were fucked up. The rules weren't the same when there wasn't really anything you could do about it.
He was glad he hadn't tried to push anyway when he saw the movement and then Cassie popped up, brightly colored and dressed way too old for her age. Bucky managed to keep his reaction to Scott's wild overacting down to a mild dart of his eyes that didn't turn into a roll, somehow, and just smiled at Cassie. "Hey, Cass," he answered. He grinned a little. "Nah, Scott. She looks great, don't be so repressed," he said obligingly. He gave Scott a slight smile and then added. "Seen like five outfits like that tonight - Girda Hint had one one, think Vin - guy with the owl watch he wears everywhere - too." Both of whom were older people, and not that fashionable to start with, so hopefully the comparison would make Cassie not actually want to wear what she was wearing.
Or not, but it was a backward attempt to help, anyway. If Bucky ever tried to tell Becca what to wear these days, he was pretty sure she'd just strip off everything and walk out naked out of sheer contrariness. She'd spent way too much time around Steve as a kid. "Is it just you here, or your whole class around?" Bucky asked her.
