"For a hovering patron," came his reply, low and exasperated. "When did you become our mother?" Reluctantly, Thor took the glass offered to him, though he eyed the pills as if his dear brother were offering him poison. It would have been no effort at all to pocket them in his cheek to spit them out later when those concerned green eyes flickered away from his face. For all the toxic things that Thor ingested, all the liquor that was slowly killing him from the inside out, he was afraid of two small and unassuming little tablets. In his hand, the glass reflected his subtle trembling, small waves flowing back and forth and beating gently against the smooth edges that contained them. Thor knew what that meant for him and knew that the medication offered to him would not truly touch the problems that were due to follow. Apathy came with the heavy price of dependence and Thor certainly paid that tax and did so willingly — too willingly.
While he doubted Loki could force him to take the pills even if he wanted to try, Thor debated taking them purely to placate his brother. Oftentimes he found himself ceding to Loki's benign wishes like that as if it could lessen the guilt that he felt every time he saw his brother's face, as if they were small apologies for something he could never be forgiven for.
"I am fine," he assured as he took the pills with quaking fingers, his own body betraying his even voice and guarded expression. Still, he maintained the facade and swallowed the medication without hesitating further certain that he would have changed his mind if he had. Placing the glass onto the carpet then, he pushed himself up by the frame of the bed, taking note of its groan of protest to get himself up from the floor. "There's nothing in here but you are welcome to look if you don't believe me." The words could have sounded frustrated or annoyed, could have been an accusation if the tone wasn't so empty. It was all too knowing of his brother's intentions, his fear that he was locked in here surrounded by emptied bottles and unconscious on the floor.
