What now?
Who: Bertram What: Trying to figure out what he's supposed to do now Where: Behind the sheriff's office When: Late evening Why: Because with Jane replaced, he might be in trouble.
Bertram sat in the stretched shadows of the late day light, mostly obscured behind the sheriff's office. He'd heard that Jane had been replaced, and that was bad news for him. He'd agreed to help her bring down Iscariot in exchange for not being hung by his neck until dead, but with her replaced, he wasn't sure the offer was still good.
Of course, only she knew where his gun and perfumes were kept, so he couldn't run. He could fight back with his bare hands if he had to, but if someone pulled a gun on him, well, dodging bullets was not one of his talents. Yet judging by the poster that had been put up for him, it didn't seem like they wanted to fight him, so much as they wanted the information he scarcely had.
Bertram hadn't been able to get much information on Iscariot, but he did what he could. He couldn't much check with the Victorian Company, given his wanted status, even though Iscariot seemed to hold a grudge against them, or something. He was an outlaw, not a detective.
"Sink or swim, I guess," he muttered. "Worst-case scenario... I've escaped the noose before. Hope you did something right, lady."
