Sam knew Sal had all the right to be in a chipper mood. And Sam loved Sal, so he should be happy for Sal's happy mood. That was the logic of it, and yet here Sam was, bitter and irritated.

Sam shrugged, "That's good. We needed some." His plan was to keep responses short, that way there was less of a chance of the topic of Sal's sexual exploits to pop on up. Sal probably wouldn't even notice the mood, right?
