Tinworth to Fill Vacated Wizengamot Seat By Narcissa Malfoy Today The Daily Prophet sits down with the two candidates running for Tinworth’s recently vacated Wizengamot seat: Gawain Robards and devoted father and noted horticulturist, Hugo Nott. With several of Tinworth's non-magical citizens tragically killed in light of Hw Robards announcement, the town is in need of decisive leadership. Do these two men have what it takes? NARCISSA MALFOY: Thank you, both of you, for joining me today. I’m sure the citizens of Tinworth are looking forward to hearing what you have to say. HUGO NOTT: Thank you, Madam Malfoy. It’s always a joy to speak to yourself and the prospective voters too. GAWAIN ROBARDS: Thank you for the opportunity, Mrs. Malfoy. I’m looking forward to today and once again getting a chance to address our potential constituents in Tinworth. NM: Now, Mr Nott, can you tell us about what you hope to bring to the Wizengamot? HN: Experience, simply. I have lived in Tinworth for the best part of a decade and I truly have the sentiments of the population of this beloved town at heart. I want to ensure our safety in troubled times, unity and stability as a magical community. NM: Especially as a father, I’m sure. HN: Of course. I have always aspired to be a good example for my son, and to lead by example in my community. NM: And you, Hw Robards? What do you hope to bring to the Wizengamot? GW: I hope to bring my decades of experience as an Auror and passions for law, order, and stability to the Wizengamot, and use that to work towards the safety of not only Tinworth, but our nation. These have been volatile times. I wish to see us on a path towards fair, just government. NM: Of course. Now, there has been a lot of talk regarding your feelings towards the Ministry. Some worry you’ll work against the Ministry rather than with it. What do you make of those rumours? GW: To be blunt: Yes, strongly disagree with some Ministry policies and directions of late. That’s certainly my reason for running; to help improve our policies, direction, and strive towards equality and fairness. My response to those rumours is disagreement has never stopped me from my continuing work in the DMLE or support for the Ministry as an institution. I’ve worked for the Ministry since I was nineteen years of age through several different Ministers and directions. NM: Some might say that might make your thoughts and ideas stagnant. GW: I respectfully disagree. If anything, I hope to bring DMLE experience and ideas to the Wizengamot itself. NM: Mr Nott, do you feel you bring a fresh perspective to the Ministry? HN: There are certain elements of the Ministry that have not been cohesive with the Minister of Magic’s view for our future. After witnessing that discord first-hand, I believe that an outsider is advantageous - no, necessary to help bring the Wizengamot to true success. I feel I know the views of the people better than anyone from the disbanded and disgraced Auror office could, and can make my presence known in that way. GW: Disbanded, yes. Disgraced, no. NM: Some of your Aurors handled the disbandment less than gracefully, though. And you were their leader, Hw Robards. HN: It was rather embarrassing to watch. GW: They rightfully felt it was an absurd, shortsighted choice to disband the Aurors when they were needed the most. NM: That wouldn’t excuse their behaviour. How would you have handled a situation like that, Mr Nott? HN: Certainly with a little more grace, if I were their leader. NM: And do you believe, as Hw Robards appears to, that it was a shortsighted choice to disband his former department? HN: I think the Ministry has been taking bold steps under Minister Thicknesse, and certainly the immature reactions of some former Aurors makes me believe that scrutiny and restructuring of the department was a necessary move. I applaud Minister Thicknesse for decisive action and look forward to seeing what other improvements he is willing to make for the future of our society. (continued on page 4) |
