FLOO EMPLOYEE OPENS ILLEGAL FLOO IN DMLE By Gwendolyn Vane A long term employee of the Floo Network was fired today after opening an unauthorised floo in the DMLE breakroom. Callum Corner had worked for the Department for Transportation for 33 years, with a previously spotless record, but was found by another employee while in the process of opening the Floo. He was immediately reported and dismissed for gross misconduct. Head of the Floo Network, Errol Hargreaves, was quick to reassure the public in strong terms, stating “We do not tolerate the actions of anyone who sees fit to put themselves before the safety of our world.” When questioned, Corner insisted that he attempted to create the illegal floo out of fear and an anxiety about his children’s safety. However, Hargreaves and other members of the department were quick to dismiss his motives, calling it a poor excuse. Several co-workers were quick to call Corner a “good guy”, but a breach as huge and potentially life-threatening is cause for prompt and immediate dismissal. Corner was escorted from the premises. Hargreaves was confident in his assertion that “the public has no cause for concern” following the events of today, and insisted that “the Floo Authority continues to work to serve people at the highest standard.” Although grateful that no one was injured or hurt due to Corner’s actions, there was a sense of unease in the Department for Transportation today, as people returned to their work. “It’s strange how some people just decide to take things into their own hands,” one colleague of Corner’s said. “It never seems to work out.” It proved a costly mistake for Corner, though the department is adamant that nothing like this will happen again. |
