A GLIMPSE AT LIFE AS A WEREWOLF By Narcissa Malfoy In early December, fifteen-year-old Quincy Bunker was rescued from the Wandless of Diagon Alley by new Department of Magical Creatures head, Fenrir Greyback. The Prophet is joined today by Bunker to talk about his time with Greyback and his welcoming band of werewolves. NARCISSA MALFOY: Thank you for joining us today, Quincy. You must be very busy with your new studies. Can you tell us about those? QUINCY BUNKER: Well, now that I’m a werewolf and all, there are things my body can do that it couldn’t do before. I’m a little stronger and faster, but I can see better and smell better. It was a lot to take in so they’ve been showing me how to, you know, use that. They said I’d hate brewing potions now. NM: Potions? You’re interested in becoming a potioneer, right? Why would you hate it now? QB: Yeah. Or I was. It’s kind of a smelly business on a good day. I can imagine how it’d be now that I can smell everything. Now I just want to be a productive member of my pack. NM: Your pack. Is that the ‘they’ to which you keep referring? QB: Yeah. NM: Can you tell us more about them? QB: They’re werewolves like me. They’re pretty decent people. NM: So they’re kind to you? QB: Well, yeah. I was definitely kind of scared about the whole thing at first, but I didn’t have any reason to be. Werewolves get kind of a bad reputation, but like I said, they’re decent people. They — we just have a different diet. NM: Are you happy with your pack? QB: Yeah! They’re really good to me. It’s almost like being back in Hufflepuff sometimes. I’ve only been with them for a month and a half now, but they treat me like I’m one of their own. NM: You are one of their own. QB: True, yeah. I am one of their own. NM: You mentioned Hufflepuff. Do you miss being at Hogwarts? QB: Sometimes. I miss my friends. But what I’m doing now is more important. I don’t even really miss having a wand. NM: What about Fenrir Greyback? He has an especially bad reputation. Is he as kind to you as the others? QB: He’s really intimidating at first. He knows a lot about what it means to be a werewolf. But yeah, he’s just as nice as everyone else. He’s almost like a father to some of the others. I can see why they look at him that way. I think he’s really misunderstood. And I think he’s doing a good job with the magical creatures department. He really has the magical creatures part of the whole thing in mind. Like he’s got their best interests at heart. Instead of thinking about how magical creatures might affect humans, it’s the other way around. NM: That’s very admirable of him. Is there anything else you’d like to say to our readers? QB: Nope. NM: I’m sure I speak for many people when I say I’m glad things are going well for you, Quincy. QB: Cheers! |
