Who: Keiichi and Misaki
What: A long overdue talk
Where: His dorm room
When: After Renju's dungeon, after the whole blow up with maeko
Why: Just because there's a lot to talk over.

Misaki stared at the door to Keiichi's room. It was an odd thing coming here late at night, not that there was many people in the dorms right now, but still she wondered if it would give anyone any suggestions. She kept thinking of his pale frozen form on the ground in that icy dungeon. Her hand wavered some as she reached up to rap at it, but then stopped. She should be able to stand on her own two feet. But seeing him like that, her heart had almost stopped. She didn't want to lose him, not now, not when there was so much going on.

If I'd just gone with him... Misaki thought as she rested her head on the door. Images flooded her mind. She could have lost him to that frozen world, and then what? There was no way that she could let that happen. Never again, she wouldn't let him take those risks without telling her at least what he was planning to do. She knew it sounded selfish, but at the moment she felt like being selfish. He was her boyfriend, not anyone else.

He wasn't like Kanaye, he wouldn't run from things, and for that she was grateful. But still seeing him in that near death like state, and feeling that herself, the coldness of her skin, the clammy nature. It was like touching the bodies at her mom's lab, the stiff hardness of the once flexible skin had given her pause. The cold had just been the start, like a knife to the bone she could still feel at night the sensation of ice forming in the marrow so that she couldn't move, then there were the blisters. She didn't tell the others at the time, but the sight had made her sick, she could still imagine the puss seeping out of the popped blisters. If that pain had been over her, what had it been like for those fighting? It had to have been worse, so much worse.

Blood seeping from cracked skin, it was like one of those terrible movies, and she was going to rub lotion all over her body come winter. Like being locked inside a freezer, she would have to be stronger to face something like that again. How had it gotten so bad for Renju that she willingly had sent herself there. That shadow could have killed them. If that was death, if that was what it was like to die in the cold, then she was never going skiing. In the end it was the color that got to her the most. The color of the dead, it was something that still showed up in her mind as she tried to sleep. If they had payed more attention, maybe they could have saved Renju...

Misaki shook her head. No this wasn't the time to be thinking like that, she was there to focus on him. Not Renju, not Maeko, not Kaneye. She purged it from her mind, and stood up and knocked, "Keiichi-kun? Are you awake? Can I come in please?"

Keiichi groaned something unintelligible at first, as his eyes slowly drifted open. He was fairly certain he looked like Hell, not that he especially cared.

"One sec," he called out, wiping his eyes and staggering over to the door. Sleep wasn't something that came easily to him anymore, so he didn't so much mind the interruption.

When he opened the door, he *was* someone surprised to be greeted by a mass of pink hair. "Sure, come on in," he managed, still groggy enough to not quite connect her voice to her appearance.

Misaki walked in and looked at him. Her mind was a mess, but at least she could tell that he had not been doing to well in the sleep department. "Keii-kun, haven't you been sleeping? You look terrible."

Not that she was sleeping either, and reached up to put a hand on his forehead, "No fever. Maybe I should go, you should get some rest."

She hestitated for a moment and then leaned up and kissed his cheek softly, "I don't want you passing out from exhaustion."

"I'll be fine," he insisted. "It's summer break. I can sleep whenever I want, you know."

Pulling over his computer chair to give Misaki someplace to sit, he took a seat on his bed, leaning up against the wall.

"So what brings you here this late? Something's wrong, isn't it?"

"Everything just exploded," Misaki said softly and sat down. "And I didn't want to drag you into it, but apparently being connected to me, it brings bad luck."

Misaki shook her head and tried to clear it as she spoke and was blunt about the facts, "Before Sonozaki-senpai got dragged off to Paradies, I got a bunch of letters that were...well threatening, and telling me to kill myself, that I shouldn't exsit. I wasn't sure what to do with them, so I gave them to Kiriko-chan, and she and Tom-kun looked up about it. I dumbly mentioned it to Akuba-san, and she went into over protective mode, pushing herself to the point where she passed out."

Misaki kept her eyes on the floor, "I wanted to try to get things settled with satou-senpai, and I found out that he was the one that sent them. He was angry at me for following them on a date. I..." Misaki took a breath. "I was trying to find a way to be a better girlfriend, and I thought following them was a good idea at the time. He caught me, and was really rather angry about it. Akuba-san never mentioned it to me, I guess she didn't want to believe it happened or something."

"Anyway, he told me that Akuba-san's reaction came from the fact that she felt she owed me. Five years ago, Akuba-san, when she was still with her old friends..." Misaki gripped her skirt, "She told me to kill myself. For a while I honestly thought about it, but then I thought that they would win if I did. While I was carrying a vase, for my brother, I slipped, it broke, and shattered and the shards cut my arm and wrists."

Misaki sighed deeply at this point, "People apparently heard about the accident, and took it as I actually did try to commite suicide. Apparently Akuba-san was one of them. She felt guilty for it, offered to be friends. At the time I believed it was because she genuinely wanted to be friends. Three years later I got a clue and realized that she was feeling guilty about what she said, but I didn't know that she felt she owed me. I thought she had long forgotten about it, or that she realized by now that I wouldn't do something like that."

"So Senpai basically told her about the letters, and promptly told her I had something to tell her, and she...got mad after I told her the truth, and I've been trying to applogize and basically she no longer wants to be civil with me, and only wishes to communicate for emergencies."

Misaki basically looked up, "That's why I didn't want to get you involved. It would be too much for you right now. And you had enough to deal with Sonozaki-san."

Trying to process this all at once was considerably more difficult than he'd thought when she began talking.

"I....who....where...what?" Keiichi managed. "Give me a moment if you don't mind, that's a lot of things to take in."

Let's see. She followed Kanaye and Maeko on a date, check. She cut herself on a vase, and everyone thought she'd try to kill herself, check. Kanaye and Maeko and...

"That sounds...rather complicated," he had to admit. "But you *do* know you can tell me things."

He paused for a moment. She'd mentioned Sonozaki-san. "What do you mean enough to deal with Sonozaki-san," he asked. "Her Shadow threw me into Paradise. I lived through it. Onwards I go."

"I'm just worried that..." Misaki paused, "that I haven't been the best I could be for you. That's all. And maybe someone like Sonozaki could...could cause you less trouble."

Misaki glanced up at him, "I'm sorry, I...I apparently stink at being a proper friend, how can I manage to be a proper girlfriend to you. I just...I want to be sure we're on the same page you know. I don't want anymore drama, I've had enough of it to last a life time."

"Um..." Keiichi looked somewhere between confused and even more confused than usual. "Sonozaki-san and I probably haven't spoken more than a few sentences to each other here and there until the past few days."

And then, he remembered something.

"Oh, that's right. I didn't tell you quite how I ended up in Paradise, did I??" Pausing a moment, Keiichi frowned. "She hadn't been around at all for days. Usually I at least see her in the cafeteria in the dorms. So I decided to go see if I could find her. It...ended up being her shadow. I meant to call you all, but I left my phone in the room. I attempted to get it to tell me where Renju was, and it, well, showed me. After kicking me in the groin and knocking me out."

Damned cowardly shadow (that could have exploded him into a frozen pile of organs and skin).

"You....Silly goose! Why didn't you run out of there when you knew it was a shadow! You could have really gotten hurt!" Misaki yelped. "You really had me scared in there Keiichi. I really thought you had..."

Misaki reached over and touched his face, "I thought I'd lost you."

She looked down embaressed, "Sorry, I guess I got jealous. Sonozaki-chan is your age and all, and she's in your class, so I guess, I got a bit envious. I'm sorry."

"But I'm glad you're okay," Misaki smiled at him softly, "By the way, if the guy in the dorm master's room asks why I came in here, um... just nod your head and pretty much ignore any sort of things he might be suggesting."

She sweatdropped.

"Honestly," he asked, looking back at her. It *was* sort of embarrassing, really, because the logical thing to do was run. "When my adrenaline gets going, it sort of...starts moving faster than my mind. I thought I'd be okay, because I could call, but no phone, and then I was afraid if it got away we wouldn't be able to find it again."

Keiichi patted her on the shoulder. "I'm sorry for worrying you," he said. "I didn't mean to worry anyone. I probably shouldn't have continued to confront it. It's just..."

Ito shrugged. "I'm not really good at the investigative part of all of this. And I want to help. So when we get in there...I sort of get like that Shirou kid. Do you know him? He's in the Kendo Wrestling Club with Sakuraba-san. Anyway..."

Continuing to look at her, Keiichi nodded. "There are lots of girls in my class. I don't think you have to worry about Akuba-san, for example. You've...just been under a lot of stress lately, haven't you?"

Misaki sighed, "Keiichi...Yes and so have other people. I've...I think I've been a bit selfish you know. Don't pat me on the shoulder..."

She leaned up and softly kissed him, "If you're going to comfort me at least do so in a way that I can return it with the same amount of affection." Misaki smiled at him, "It's alright, if I wasn't worried then I wouldn't have cared."

"Shirou-kun, yes I know him, he's...interesting." She grinned, "But you're not like Shirou-kun, you're actually more intellegent, and well, I'd do the same thing I guess. Just at least the next time, take your phone with you when you leave the dorm. Just in case."

"It's an affectionate pat," he insisted, flushing slightly at being kissed. It wasn't so much that he minded being kissed as it was that it was a lot more difficult to have a serious discussion when pretty pink-haired girlfriend was being affectionate.

"I'll remember the phone next time, don't worry," Keiichi said. "This isn't about me, though, many flaws though I do have. Everything with Satou-senpai and Akuba-san...are you going to be okay?"

Misaki nodded and blushed some, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you blush like that. And I'm happy when you give me pats, reminds me of the times you used to do that at the start of the year before all this happened."

She sighed some, "Has it really only been a few months since this all started?"

Misaki thought a moment then slowly nodded, "Yeah I think so. I know I messed up, I should have been honest with her a long time ago. In a way it's sort of a payback for feeling jealous I guess. She was a really important person to me, I didn't want to lose that." Looking up she smiled at Keiichi, "Just like you are to me. You were one of my first friends here Keiichi-kun. I was always happy and proud to say that you were. I'm really lucky I have you as a boyfriend."

"I'll be okay, going to take me a while to get used to the idea of not talking to her, but I'll be okay. And I'm sure she'll make some really close friends," Misaki thought a moment, "I think that she's been hanging out with Seiko-san, so that's a good thing. She's very nice."

"But are you okay? I mean having that happen to you, that couldn't have been easy,"Misaki said gently. "Do you want to talk about it?"

"It has," Keiichi said. "Sort of hard to believe, isn't it? Seems like just yesterday we awoke to our Personas, and..."

And since then, he'd been battling the forces of shadowy evil and nearly dying. Worse, he'd come to accept this as normal.

"I have faith both you and Akuba-san will be okay in the long run," Ito stated. "This is best for both of you. It's good to have friends, but you two were a little...unhealthily close."

By Keiichi's logic, that was an understatement.

"I'll be okay," Keiichi insisted. "I'd really rather not talk about it, to be honest. What's happened has happened."

It was difficult for him to be affectionate in serious conversations, even with Misaki's usual affectionate nature.

"You think so?" she asked calmly and sighed. "Maybe so. I just...I don't know how to get her to forgive me. I want to make things right. Not only between her and me, but with Kanaye and me, because I guess I haven't been fair to him either."

She looked down then up, "Do you think we're going to work out Keiichi-kun? I really want us to. I like...I like being with you."

"Honestly, Mi-chan?" he asked, sort of rhetorically. "I think it's too soon for us to know. We haven't been dating that long. Besides...Paradise has a tendency to affect things quite a bit."

Nodding once, Keiichi continued. "That said, I like being with you too. Things are difficult because of our situation, but as long as we keep trying, things will hopefully work out. The best we can do is try."

That sounded somewhat...sobering, but really, he figured it was best to be truthful at this point.

Misaki nodded, "Yeah, you're right. I guess, I'm worrying to much over all."

She paused then smiled some, "Keiichi, you just gave me a wonderful idea! Do you think you could help me with it please? I think it might help everyone out too."

"Well you know how we're all going to the beach and everything. I was thinking how nice it could be for us to all cook dinner together as a group. I think it could build better understanding if we all worked as a team. You know, someone peel the potatos, someone cut them, all that stuff." Misaki smiled sweetly. "What do you think? It'll make it extra special since we all prepared it together."

Keiichi tapped his chin for a few moments. "That sounds like a good idea," he agreed. "I don't know how many people we'll agree to work on it, but for those that we can, it might be a good team building activity."

Generally, the group needed all the team building it could get.

"Maybe once we get closer, we can ask who'd like to help on the school blogs. That seems to be a good way to round everyone up."

Misaki nodded vigerously and giggled, "Yup that's a good idea. Oh we should also ask what everyone wants to make. Like ask what types of foods they want then come up with a list of dishes and say we have X, Y, Z dishes to offer in each catagory. Then we can make the ones that are favorites?"
