Who: Keiichi and Misaki
What: A long overdue talk
Where: His dorm room
When: After Renju's dungeon, after the whole blow up with maeko
Why: Just because there's a lot to talk over.
Misaki stared at the door to Keiichi's room. It was an odd thing coming here late at night, not that there was many people in the dorms right now, but still she wondered if it would give anyone any suggestions. She kept thinking of his pale frozen form on the ground in that icy dungeon. Her hand wavered some as she reached up to rap at it, but then stopped. She should be able to stand on her own two feet. But seeing him like that, her heart had almost stopped. She didn't want to lose him, not now, not when there was so much going on.
If I'd just gone with him... Misaki thought as she rested her head on the door. Images flooded her mind. She could have lost him to that frozen world, and then what? There was no way that she could let that happen. Never again, she wouldn't let him take those risks without telling her at least what he was planning to do. She knew it sounded selfish, but at the moment she felt like being selfish. He was her boyfriend, not anyone else.
He wasn't like Kanaye, he wouldn't run from things, and for that she was grateful. But still seeing him in that near death like state, and feeling that herself, the coldness of her skin, the clammy nature. It was like touching the bodies at her mom's lab, the stiff hardness of the once flexible skin had given her pause. The cold had just been the start, like a knife to the bone she could still feel at night the sensation of ice forming in the marrow so that she couldn't move, then there were the blisters. She didn't tell the others at the time, but the sight had made her sick, she could still imagine the puss seeping out of the popped blisters. If that pain had been over her, what had it been like for those fighting? It had to have been worse, so much worse.
Blood seeping from cracked skin, it was like one of those terrible movies, and she was going to rub lotion all over her body come winter. Like being locked inside a freezer, she would have to be stronger to face something like that again. How had it gotten so bad for Renju that she willingly had sent herself there. That shadow could have killed them. If that was death, if that was what it was like to die in the cold, then she was never going skiing. In the end it was the color that got to her the most. The color of the dead, it was something that still showed up in her mind as she tried to sleep. If they had payed more attention, maybe they could have saved Renju...
Misaki shook her head. No this wasn't the time to be thinking like that, she was there to focus on him. Not Renju, not Maeko, not Kaneye. She purged it from her mind, and stood up and knocked, "Keiichi-kun? Are you awake? Can I come in please?"
